El Azteca
Real authentic Mexican food is a rarity in Delmarva, and as much as El Azteca may try, its Americanized Mexican cuisine is good, but not genuinely authentic. El Azteca offers all of the usual favorites, with curious spins on classics like enchiladas, tacos, fajitas, burritos, quesadillas, nachos and more, including a wide variety of generously portioned dishes from an expanded menu. Food preparation is prompt and good, and service is friendly and efficient. El Azteca leans towards ‘Tex-style’ Mexican dishes that appeal more to large groups and families aspiring a menu with something to satisfy every appetite, not those seeking authentic cuisine that reminds of grandma’s Mexican home cooking. The prices are fair, and the fare is good, with hardly a wait at this expansive ‘Forgotten Mile’ location among three El Azteca restaurants in the region (the others in Dover). With seemingly hundreds of new townhomes opening next door, though, the easy access may be compromised by a deluge of new home buyers looking for a fun place to eat and drink — El Azteca does not disappoint. You will find good happy hour specials, generous drinks, and a large restaurant which easily accommodates every size group and every age. It is not high-end, and not fast food either; instead, El Azteca finds that sweet spot of Tex-Mex cuisine at the South end of Rehoboth with plenty of available parking, making it even more desirable for families looking to avoid the usual Rehoboth Beach parking chaos.
